Bridge offers a colourful canvas to the unusual ordeals of a teenager girl, Jonaki, who lives on the banks of a tributary of the river Brahmaputra. Every year, the mighty river and its tributaries flood many villages and ruin their cultures. Still, the people love the river and its green valley. Without a small bridge, however, their lives are hard and full of troubles only they can truly feel and understand. This film attempts to draw attention to the agony of these people who keep losing everything and to the daily struggles these poor, honest and simple people face in their lives. Bridge ultimately focuses on Jonaki’s journey to empowerment.

This has been going on forever and there seems to be no solution. Due to the lack of basic facilities, like a bridge, people suffer in these remote areas, as they are completely cut off from the rest of the world and deprived of essentials, like proper education and health facilities. In our film, Jonaki’s village is deeply affected by all this, and yet, they start from scratch every year with a new ray of hope.”
